BOOKS ARE STILL COOL! April 20, 2018.

Hello all avid readers.  Books Are Still Cool has something special for April.  American Latvian author Ināra Vērzemniece, and non-fiction creative writing assistant professor at the University of Iowa, will herself join the post read discussion via Skype.  Her book, Among the Living and the Dead, has been critically acclaimed by the New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/15/books/review/among-the-living-and-the-dead-inara-verzemnieks.html) and the U.S. Embassy is organizing a visit to Latvia this summer.  But if you sign up for Books Are Still Cool, you could meet her first!!!

What’s in it for you?
  • A free copy of the book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers and the author Ināra Vērzemniece!
How to participate:
  • Be among the first eight people to email ircriga@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
  • If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at the shop Art Nouveau Riga, Strēlnieku Iela 9 from 11:00 to 18:00 daily, including Sat. & Sun.  But you have to pick it up in 5 days otherwise it goes to the next in line.
  • Read the book!
  • On Friday, the 20th of April at 18:00 meet with the group at the John F. Kennedy Reading Room in Latvian National Library, Mūkusalas Street 3, 3rd floor and be ready to participate in open and informal discussion. Refreshments will be served!
