BOOKS ARE STILL COOL!

Hello all avid readers. Each February, the U.S. recognizes and celebrates Black History Month, as does the US Embassy of Latvia with a chance for eight of our social media followers to receive a copy of Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

What is in it for you?
  • A free hard cover copy of Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other readers in English!
How to participate:
  • Be among the first eight people to email studentsn@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
  • If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils Students, and then you can pick up your book in downtown Riga at Tērbatas Street 6 at a pre-agreed time.
  • Read the book & then on Friday, the 26th of February, at 18:00 meet with the group on Zoom for an interesting discussion with the other readers and moderator George Steele.  George is a native of Cleveland, Ohio who moved to Latvia in the 1990’s, is an educator, actor, and opinion leader of ethnic and racial issues in Latvia and his home country – the United States.  George is fluent in Latvian and sings in the Gaudeamus men’s choir.

PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE FOR A ZOOM CALL ON THE 26TH OF FEBRUARY BEFORE YOU SIGN UP!
