Books Are Still Cool!

Hello all avid readers. We have a nostalgic delicacy for you this April!! Mastering the Art of Soviet Cooking – A Memoir of Food and Longing by Anya Von Bremzen. The title says a lot, but not all. This fine book is the favorite recent read of Dr. Robert Kellerman, who is an associate professor of English at the University of Maine at Augusta and is presently teaching at Daugavpils University this spring as a Fulbright teaching fellow. Dr. Kellerman will come to Riga on the 28th of April to lead the discussion group.

What’s in it for you?
  • A free copy of the book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers in English & Dr. Kellerman!
How to participate:
  • Be among the first eight people to email ircriga@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
  • If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at the JFK Reading Room at the Latvian National Library, or the shop Art Nouveau Riga, Strēlnieku Iela 9 from 11:00 to 18:00 daily, including Sat. & Sun. But you have to pick it up in 5 days otherwise it goes to the next in line.
