Books Are Still Cool!
Hello all avid readers. Isn’t this the perfect weather for cozying up with a good book? November’s book was chosen by Member of the Saeima Atis Lejiņš who will also be our guest speaker. An adventurous person who twice travelled to Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion to seek out captured Latvian soldiers who were forced to serve in the Soviet army. The book – A Hand Reached Down to Guide Me by David Gates.
What’s in it for you?
- A free, new hardcover book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers in English!
How to participate:
- Be among the first eight people to email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide your name, email, and phone number.
- If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at the JFK Reading Room at the Latvian National Library Monday to Friday, or the shop Art Nouveau Riga, Strēlnieku Iela 9 from 11:00 to 18:00 daily, including Sat. & Sun. But you have to pick it up by November 7th.
- Read the book!
- On Wednesday, the 30th of November at 18:00 meet with the group at the John F. Kennedy Reading Room in Latvian National Library, Mūkusalas Street 3, 3rd floor and be ready to participate in open and informal discussion. Refreshments will be served!
