The Meet America program provides Latvian secondary school students with the opportunity to meet with Embassy officers, as well as American exchange students, teachers and researchers to learn more about the culture, education, history, geography and literature of the United States. Our goal is to get American diplomats talking face-to-face with people who want to hear from them and address topics students find interesting and important. Previous topics have ranged from “Personal Development and Goal Setting” to “Career”, “Personal branding” and “Stereotypes about Americans.”
During the meetings, speakers may present a short overview of a particular subject relating to American society and culture or talk more generally about their lives and then open the floor to discussion and questions. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your suggestions if you have a topic in mind. Contact our Meet America program coordinator at AlumniLatvia@state.gov for more information or to set up a time
