Books Are Still Cool!

The summer is almost over and the balmy weather is turning towards the cooler side – perhaps it’s time for a good book? Luckily BOOKS ARE STILL COOL is back from summer break to offer you a New York Times bestseller & this club’s first Pulitzer Prize willing book! This book will take us to North Korea and that is probably enough said for now. It’s a bit bulkier then most or our previous reads at 430 pages, but the post reading discussion session will be only at the end of September giving you a month and half for reading.

What’s in it for you?

  • A free book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers! Plus, this discussion will be hosted by a special guest with keen insights to share.

How to participate:

  • Be among the first eight people to email ircriga@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
  • If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at starting with the 15th of August at the shop Art Nouveau Riga, Strēlnieku Iela 9 from 10:00 to 19:00 daily, including Sat. & Sun. But you have to pick it up by the 19th of August or the next person in line with get it!
  • Read the book!
  • On Monday, the 29th of September at 18:00 meet with the group at the café “Rasols” (also Strēlnieku iela 9 (formally Winoveria Vinoteca)) and be ready to participate in open and informal discussion.
