Books Are Still Cool!

Hello all avid readers. After the summer break (and some of the autumn as well) Books Are Still Cool is back. But the best news is that our book club now has a space to call home – The John F. Kennedy reading room on the 3rd floor of the Latvian National Library with an exquisite view overlooking the Old City.

And in honor of the reading room’s opening and its namesake, President Kennedy, what better book to read and discuss than The Letters of John F. Kennedy, by John F. Kennedy himself!

On top of that, the post-reading discussion guest will be Pauls Raudseps, a seasoned Latvian journalist, who like President Kennedy, hails from the Boston area and is also a Harvard graduate.

What’s in it for you?

  • A free book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers in English!

How to participate:

  • Be among the first eight people to email ircriga@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
  • If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at the John F. Kennedy reading room daily from 9:00 to 17:00 or at a downtown location that we can arrange separately. But you have to pick up the book within a week, or the next person in line gets it!
  • Read the book!
  • On Thursday, the 29th of October at 17:30 meet with the group at John F. Kennedy reading room and be ready to participate in open and informal discussion. Beverages will be served.

PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE ON THE 29th OF OCTOBER BEFORE YOU SIGN UP!
