Books Are Still Cool

Hello avid readers. It’s November and once again it’s time to focus on entrepreneurship. During November the U.S. State Department celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week and our Embassy is organizing a host of activities including our monthly book club. This month’s award winning book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change by Stephen R. Covey is “one of the most inspiring and impactful books ever written that has captivated readers for over 25 years. It has transformed the lives of Presidents and CEOs, educators and parents – in short, millions of people of all ages and occupations.” So if you are intrigued, read the details below and sign up!

What’s in it for you?

  • A free book, yours to keep, and an opportunity to discuss its contents with other avid readers! Plus, this discussion will be hosted by Juris Ulmanis, marketing and entrepreneurship professor and co-founder of Experiential learning and simulation company with keen insights to share.

How to participate:

    • Be among the first eight people to email ircriga@state.gov and provide your name, email, and phone number.
    • – If you are one of the first eight, you will receive a reply from me, Nils, and then you can pick up your book at the John F. Kennedy reading room daily from 9:00 to 17:00 or at a downtown location that we can arrange separately. But you have to pick it up by the 10th of November or the next person in line with get it!
    • Read the book!
    • On Monday, the 30th of November at 17:30 meet with the group at the John F. Kennedy Reading Room in Latvian National Library, Mūkusalas Street 3, 3rd floor and be ready to participate in open and informal discussion. Refreshments will be served!
