The U. S. Embassy announces a video contest for high school students

Riga, January 23, 2014 – The U.S. Embassy Riga invites 16–18 year old high school students to participate in the video contest and submit their 1–5 minute long videos on the topic “Innovation” until February 28.

Authors of the 10 best videos will receive consolation prizes while the winner will be granted an opportunity to participate in a 4-week long Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Summer Institute (BFTF) this July. This camp brings together youth from over 50 countries all around the Globe and lets them further their knowledge in such fields as democracy, press freedom, global politics, youth employment etc. BFTF participants will take part in various seminars and lessons as well as get an opportunity to visit government institutions, non-governmental organizations, film studios and newsrooms.

Submitted video must be 1–5 minutes long and has to explore the given topic: “Innovation”. Video has to be uploaded on www.failiem.lv or any other file-sharing website of participant’s preference and a link for a downloadable video must be sent to the following email – AlumniLatvia@state.gov till February 28. The email has to contain the following information about participant: full name, his/her school and contact information.
