Commanding General of U.S. Army in Europe to Visit Latvia

Riga, January 17, 2015 – The Commanding General of U.S. Army Europe, Lieutenant General Frederick “Ben” Hodges will visit Latvia January 18-20. In Latvia, LTG Hodges will visit Ādaži Military Base and participate in the welcome ceremony of U.S. soldiers from 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The troops, which arrived earlier this month, are deployed to Latvia on a rotational basis and will be partnering with the Latvian Forces Infantry Brigade in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

While in Latvia, LTG Hodges will meet with Latvian Minister of Defense Raimonds Vējonis and representatives of Latvian Army, and will hold a joint press availability with Minister of Defense Raimonds Vējonis at 9:45 a.m. on January 19 at Ādaži Military Base. LTG Hodges will also attend the Barricades Day Ceremony in Riga.
