The Immigration Act of 1990 established the Diversity Visa (DV) program, where 50,000 immigrant visas would be available in an annual lottery, starting in fiscal year 1995. The lottery aims to diversify the immigrant population in the United States, by selecting applicants mostly from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States in the previous five years.
To apply for a diversity visa, follow the steps on the Diversity Visa Process. Once you have completed those steps, review the instructions given to you by the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), along with the information presented on this website, for further guidance and instructions.
DV-2024 Program
DV-2024 Program: The online registration period for the DV-2024 Program was between October 5, 2022 and November 8, 2022. All submission processing at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ has finished.
The English version of the DV-2024 Program Instructions in PDF format is the only official version. Unofficial translations in additional languages will be added to travel.state.gov this webpage as they become available.
All DV-2024 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2024 (September 30, 2024).
DV-2024 Program entrants may enter their confirmation information at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ starting from noon (EDT) on May 6, 2023 in order to check their DV Entrant Status. DV-2024 entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2024.
DV-2023 Program
DV-2023 Program: The online registration period for the DV-2023 Program was between October 6, 2021 and November 9, 2021. All submission processing at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ has finished.
All DV-2023 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2023 (September 30, 2023).
DV-2023 Program entrants may enter their confirmation information at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ starting from noon (EDT) on May 8, 2022 in order to check their DV Entrant Status. DV-2023 entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2023.

There is no cost to submit an entry form. We strongly encourage you to complete the entry form yourself, without any agent or facilitator who offers to help. It is extremely important that you retain your confirmation page and unique confirmation number. Without this information, you will not be able to access the online system that will inform you of your entry status.
